We’re hiring!

WUMC has two 10-hour per week work study positions available in fall 2024. Help lead an award-winning student-run radio station and have fun while you do it! Contact wumc@milligan.edu if you’re interested.

Positions available:

  • Music Director
    • Choose our music and interact with local bands.
  • Support Staff
    • Play a supporting role in keeping us on the air, planning events and creating great content.

DJ a music show

  • One credit hour for each hour per week live on the radio
  • You select the music
  • Show recording is published online
  • Call-in opportunity available to interact with listeners live
  • Three-microphone setup for co-hosts or to invite interview guests

Host a talk show

  • One credit hour for each hour per week
  • Broadcast on the radio and published to podcast platforms
  • Live or recorded
  • Can be about nearly any topic you’re interested in
  • Call-in opportunity available to interact with listeners on live shows
  • Three-microphone setup for co-hosts or to invite interview guests

Live music

Host WUMC’s long-running and highly-rated live music show “Music Buffs Live.” Featuring live music from students, the host will recruit show guests and interview them on the air. Host alone or with a friend. 1-3 credit hours available depending on show length.

Music selection

Work with our music director to select new songs to play on the air. Part of the music selection role includes interacting with the local music community to solicit more submissions. 1-3 credit hours available.

Behind the scenes

Have experience with a sound board, church or theater sound, or love tech and are a quick learner? We have opportunities to help run equipment behind the scenes to get our shows on the air. 1-3 credit hours depending on commitment.

News and events announcements

Keep our listeners informed on community and campus events. Involves recording short segments and interviews each week to air in our rotation. The role also involves recruiting campus and community leaders to talk about their events. 1-3 credit hours available.
